Answer:
Farmer and his wife had a small son. Both of them loved their son too much. They thought in growing age their son would need a company. Therefore they brought up baby mongoose into the house.

2. Why didn't the farmer's wife want to leave the baby alone with the mongoose?
Answer:
She had feared that mongoose can harmed to her son because of this reason the farmer's wife didn't want to live the baby alone with the mongoose.

3. What was the farmer's comment on his wife's fears?
Answer:
The farmer's comment on his wife there is nothing to be afraid and said mongoose is a true friend and pet animal of his son.

4. Why did the farmer's wife strike the mongoose with her basket?
Answer:
Farmer's wife saw that the face and paws of mongoose were soaked with blood. She thought that mongoose has killed her son. Therefore she struck the mongoose with her basket.

5. Did she repent her hasty action? How does she show her repentance?
Answer:
When farmer's wife saw her son. He was sleeping then she realized her mistake mongoose has killed a black snake. She kept the mongoose and stared it for a long time. With her tear full eyes and repented her hasty action.

6. Do you have a pet - a cat or a dog? If not, would you like one. How would you, look after it? Are you for or against keeping birds in a cage as pets?
Answer:
Yes, I have a dog as a pet. I would like do have a pet as a dog. I would look after it with love and care. Just like my family member. I am totally against keeping birds in a cage. I like that bird should be free to fly and enjoy their life.
